Native to the southwest of Western Australia, the small, bell-shaped brown-and-yellow flowers of Boronia megastigma bloom for just a few weeks each year and must be harvested entirely by hand. The yield is exceptionally low — making Boronia absolute one of the most precious and sought-after ingredients a perfumer can possess.

The scent is unlike anything else: a breathtaking fusion of fruity, floral, and green facets that is simultaneously familiar and completely unique. It opens with a vivid, violet-like freshness and a burst of ripe, tropical fruitiness — think passionfruit and raspberry — before revealing a warm, rich, and deeply floral heart with a soft, woody, tea-like dry-down.

In perfumery, Boronia is a true signature ingredient — instantly recognisable and impossible to replicate synthetically. It blends beautifully with Violet Leaf, Rose, Iris, Mimosa, Sandalwood, and Cedarwood. Use it as a heart note to add an exotic, luminous quality that elevates any floral or chypre composition.
